I started this blog in 2002 before moving to NYC for grad school. That’s about the time I started finding out all kinds of stuff about myself, such as my frustration with identity politics, and I had to write about it every once in a while. I mean, really, is being a mixed-race (are you Puerto Rican, Dominican, African American, Maori, Samoan, Fijian, ad infinitum), gender-bending lesbian so out of the ordinary? I also write about media, politics, television, myself, and whatever might be pissing me off. And I write about writing. There’s some good history here.
Besides writing the blog, I write short stories either when contests call for them or when I have to get them out of my system. I write about the things I think of when I’m asleep. The stuff that pops into my head when someone pisses me off. (Those people always get it in the end.) And I’m writing a memoir. Maybe one day it will appear on a bookshelf near you.
Till then, I dig literature, Abraham Lincoln, taking pictures with my entry-level DSLR, cricket, showtunes, my astrological sign (Leo), Apple products, white chocolate, and Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. And writing. Now go read some of my posts!
